An important part of our mission is to educate people about recycling, especially as we work together to conserve our natural resources.

To fulfill this part of our mission I work with many of our local county chools. Last year I made more than three dozen presentations in schools and conducted more than 30 field trips for school groups at our Fremont center.  We had three county schools become members of our "Green Team": Vera Wilsie Elementary School in Newaygo, Pathfinder Elementary School and Pine Street Primary Center both in Fremont.  Each school met the five criteria for becoming a Green Team School Member which included collecting at least one recyclable material school-wide and recording the weight.

This year we want to increase the number of participating schools. If you work or volunteer in a school, please let them know of this opportunity.  It's a great way to educate children about recycling and to spread the word about our services.

I am also willing and able to present to any civic or community group that would like to hear about our program and our services.  We need to keep chipping away at the block of people in our communities that don't know about us and/or the importance of conserving our resources and preserving our environment.  Let me know of any opportunity to speak with any group who may be interested.
